How much is an oil change in Calgary?

How often should I change my oil?
Follow the interval in your owner's manual. Many modern cars on synthetic oil run about 8,000 to 12,000 km between changes, but most manuals list a shorter severe-service interval. Lots of short trips in a Calgary winter, towing, idling, or dusty gravel roads all count as severe use. We can look up your manufacturer's schedule for you.
Is synthetic oil worth it?
If your manual calls for synthetic, use synthetic. Many newer engines are designed around it. It flows better on a cold start, which matters on a minus 30 morning, and it holds up longer between changes. If your car is specced for conventional or a blend, synthetic won't hurt it, but it isn't required.
How long does an oil change take?

Do hybrids and electric cars need oil changes?
Hybrids do, because they still have a gas engine. Fully electric cars don't use engine oil at all. They still need tire checks, brake inspections and a 12-volt battery test, and we do all of those. Brakes on an EV can rust from lack of use, since regenerative braking does so much of the stopping.
